Writer, Painter, Sculptor

I was born and educated in Johannesburg, South Africa. I worked in film and theatre before moving to London, where I obtained a degree in sculpture at City and Guilds of London Art School.

My passion for cycling and writing offered a perfect job as a cycling journalist before moving into broader journalism.

My love of adventure led to co-founding the polar voyaging company Ice Tracks Expeditions and writing several books. ‘ICE TRACKS – Today’s Heroic Age of Polar Adventure’ and ‘THE QUEST FOR FRANK WILD’ which was made into a BBC documentary.

I co-authored ‘SHACKLETON’S CRITIC – the life and Diaries of Eric Stewart Marshall‘ with the eminent polar historian Beau Riffenburgh and contributed to The Antarctic Diaries of Frank Wild.

Having recently sold Ice Tracks Expeditions I have returned to painting, sculpture and writing,
